Terry Robb Quartet & Ty Curtis Trio
Advance tickets HERE $20, day of show $25, all ages
Terry Robb Quartet-(Adam Scramstad, Dave Kahl, Gary Hobbs)
Some musicians win awards. Then there are the very few who have awards named after them. Terry Robb – hailed as a blues guitar virtuoso and one of the finest acoustic guitarists on the international scene – is one of the latter. The Vancouver-born, Portland-based bluesman took home the Muddy Award for Best Acoustic Guitar so many times that the Cascade Blues Association finally broke down and attached his name to the trophy permanently. Recognition for his artistry doesn't stop there.
The Oregon Music Hall of Famer has been praised by The Blues Foundation, Rolling Stone, Acoustic Guitar, Down Beat, Guitar Player, Vintage Guitar, Living Blues and Oprah’s O Magazine, extolling his talents as a finger-picker, singer, songwriter, arranger and producer. He's toured the country with Buddy Guy, Steve Miller, Robin Trower, and John Fahey, appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, dazzled the crowd at Portland Trail Blazers games, collaborated with the Oregon Symphony, and had his work featured in Game of Thrones.
During his multi-decade run in the spotlight, he's shown himself to be a master of nearly every blues style and technique imaginable. Robb's recordings have been praised by critics and musicians on the international stage. His original tunes draw on influences as varied as country blues to Coltrane, ragtime to Hendrix, and Americana to American Primitivism. His recordings are nominated, award winning and place high on prestigious playlists and recording charts.
Said Dan Forte of Vintage Guitar magazine., “In Terry Robb’s hands, it not only makes perfect sense, it makes perfect blues sense.”
Ty Curtis – One of the Pacific Northwest’s most compelling blues-rock voices, Ty Curtis delivers music with soul, power, and passion. A veteran performer with eight albums under his belt, he’s graced stages alongside legends like Robert Cray, The Doobie Brothers, and George Thorogood. His band—featuring Brian Harris (keys), David Kahl (bass), and Richard Lawrence (drums)—brings dynamic chemistry and seasoned musicianship to every performance.
Their latest release, Ascendant Blues, marks a bold evolution in Ty’s sound—rich, raw, and resonant. Whether you're grooving to his guitar work or caught up in his emotionally-charged vocals, this is a show that transcends expectations.
With accolades including multiple top rankings on Blues Rock Review and a standout 2nd place finish at the 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Ty Curtis continues to prove he's a force in modern blues.
Richard Lawrence is a talented drummer known for his exceptional skills and musicianship, bringing a unique energy to every performance. He serves as the drummer and musical director for Ty Curtis, showcasing his versatility across various musical genres.
Dave Kahl is a prominent blues bass player based in Oregon with decades of experience in the local music scene. He is recognized as a staple of Oregon blues, having played in many top bands in the region
Drummer Gary Hobbs is a native of the Pacific Northwest and lives in Vancouver, WA. He has played professionally for over 4 decades and appears on over 60 recordings. Gary played with The Stan Kenton Orchestra from 1975 through 1977. Through the years Gary has played with Randy Brecker, Bud Shank, George Cables, Ken Peplowski, Pete Christlieb, Greta Matassa, Anita O'Day, Dan Siegel, Glen Moore, The New York Voices, Eddie Harris and many more. Randy Brecker, Bill Mays, Kurt Elling, Dave Frishberg, David Freisen, Bobby Shew, Bobby Watson, Bob Florence, Carl Saunders, The Woody Herman Orchestra,Terry Gibbs, Jaquie Naylor, Jim Widner Big Band, Stan Kenton Alumni Big Band and Tom Grant are just a few of the artists that Gary has recently performed with.
Carnagie Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Tivoli Garden, Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap are among the venues Gary has played along with scores of festivals and clubs all over the world. Gary is very active in Jazz Education teaching at The University Of Oregon and traveling all over the US doing clinics, concerts and jazz camps with the help of Crescent Cymbal Company and Yamaha Drum Company.

Info from Johnny
As many of you know my vehicle was damaged so badly by an elk that the insurance totaled my van. This van we all worked so hard to get. Time has come and I was able to get another vehicle but it’s not equipped for me to drive. We tried to save my wheelchair lift and hand controls but the electric components were damaged and would have cost a lot more money to repair vs buying new modifications.
I truly appreciate all the help, support, dons and sharing of this fundraiser. The donations are tax deductible if you need any type of tax deduction this is a great way.

Too Loose Cajun/Zydeco Band
If you’ve never heard French Louisiana-style dance hall music, you’re in for a real treat. And if you have, welcome back y’all!
For more than twenty years, the Portland-based Too LooseCajun/Zydeco Band has been playing their infectious brand of dance music from Southwestern Louisiana — at festivals large and small, parties, street fairs, and weddings throughout the Pacific Northwest. Take a great electric band, add two fiddles, an accordion, and a traditional rub-board, and you have an irresistible sound: happy, exciting, and exceptionally rhythmic. You won’t be able to sit still, guaranteed.
Their repertoire includes Cajun, Zydeco, and New Orleans-influenced music, with male and female vocals (and harmonies), and lyrics sung in English and Cajun French. For you dancers, there are two-steps, a few waltzes, and a surprise or two.
So come on down (and bring your dancin' shoes).

Tickets $15 in advance HERE
all ages, doors at 6:30pm
Featuring Alan Hager, Bill Athens and Edwin Coleman III
Dave Fleschner is currently on tour with blues legend Tommy Castro and the Painkillers, which makes Portland shows a rare occasion these days. On May 21, he’s home for one night at Hōkū Events — two sets of American roots music with an all-star lineup.
You might know Alan Hager — the reigning Cascade Blues Association Muddy Award winner for Electric Guitar — as the longtime guitarist with Curtis Salgado. But before Alan hit the road with Curtis, he and Dave had a duo residency at O’Connor’s Vault, where they recorded The Hager Fleschner Duo – Live From The Vault (available at davefleschner.com). Alan also appears on Dave’s The Blues Cabaret. This show is a rare chance to hear that partnership back in action.
Joining the fun on Bass is Bill Athens. Long time performing and recording collaborator with Dave, you have also heard Bill playing either upright or electric with Sleater-Kinney, 3 Leg Torso, Trio Subtonic, the Rose City Chamber Orchestra, the Tacoma Symphony, Seamus Blake, Dave Pietro, Bel Canto Northwest, Dan Balmer, Mel Brown, George Colligan, Nancy King, Tom Grant and many more.
Anchoring the whole thing is Edwin Coleman III, this year’s CBA Muddy Award winner for Drummer of The Year and a longtime cornerstone of Portland’s best bandleaders — equally at home in a Hammond jazz trio, a blues revue, or a soul band.
The setlist will move through selections from the recent vinyl release The Dave Fleschner Trio – Deep Cuts, along with material from The Blues Cabaret and Live From The Vault, plus a handful of vintage blues classics and Bob Dylan favorites.
