Dave Fleschner Blues Trio/Alan Hager

Tickets are $15 in advance at afton tickets, or $15 at the door

It’s been a while since Alan Hager and I shared the stage, so I’m thrilled to announce that he’ll be my guest at Hōkū Events on Madison February 12th at 7:00 PM.

You might know Alan as the guitarist with Curtis Salgado, but before he went on the road with Curtis, we had a duo with a residency at O’Connors Vault. We recorded an album there that you can find on my website:

Davefleschner.com

I’m beyond excited for this rare chance to play with the GOAT.

Edwin Coleman III is going to be adding his artistry to the mix, and my good friend, Dan Gildea, will be on guitar as well. If you want to see two different guitar masters at work, prepare to have your mind expanded.

Kara Grainger Band

Kara Grainger Band

Kara Grainger is an Australian soul blues and roots rock singer-songwriter, based out of Nashville, Tennessee, United States. She played with the Papa Lips band starting in 1994. In 1998, they were awarded the "Best New Band" award at the Australian Blues Music Awards.

"Talk about star power, a killer voice and guitar skills. She said to the band as much to the audience, “I think tonight, we’ll just play some blues.” Playing slide guitar, Grainger began with rootsy blues, her voice full-bodied with plenty of soul. There was clarity there too with that unmistakable bell tone mixed with grit. We were in for some serious musicianship with Kara Grainger. Her vocals packed a punch and she played monster guitar solos that had the crowd whooping and clapping. Nice to see a female musician kick some a** like that". - Rock & Blues Muse

Her music career began in a small suburban town of Sydney Australia and since then  has taken her on an incredible journey throughout the globe.  Combining slide guitar, soulful vocals and a heartfelt approach to songwriting,  Kara's  truly unique sound will leave you  uplifted, inspired and always wanting more.

At the age of 16 Kara joined with her brother Mitch Grainger to form the band "Papa Lips". The band toured consistently throughout Australia and produced two studio albums that received national air play.

The band was heavily influenced by the sounds of Stax recording in Memphis, and by the Funky style of blues and soul that derived from New Orleans.

In 2008 Kara signed to Australian label "Craving Records" and was invited to the US by producer David Kalish where she recorded her debut solo album. The recording entitled "Grand and Green River" received critical acclaim and remained in the top 30 of the Americana Charts for 38 straight weeks.

Celebrate the first night of Chanukah with music from two all-star klezmer quintets – the Carpathian-Pacific Express and the Warm Hearts Klezmer Ensemble!  Bring your Chanukah menorah and light candles with family and friends, sing holiday songs, and enjoy homemade latkes.

The Carpathian-Pacific Express is a thrilling exploration of neo-klezmer and beyond – a musical journey through the rich traditions of klezmer, Yiddish song, mystical Hasidic chant, and Eastern European fiddle tunes, with infusions of American roots and deep groove. Led by singer/clarinetist Jack (Yankl) Falk, with Andrew Ehrlich (violin), Ralph Huntley (keys), Ji Tanzer (drums), and Courtney Von Drehle (accordion/sax), the Carpathian-Pacific Express builds upon a rich blend of musical influences – jazz, classical, folkloric, and improvisation – to energize and inspire new and old fans alike.

This is their first performance and it may be their last, so don't miss the celebration!
